The 2008 Dry Bean Harvest is very close to completion here in Colorado. Crops in general in N. Colorado were a few weeks later than normal. Quality was good and yields were slightly above average overall. The pinto market has been falling since harvest began here in late August due to harvest pressure and more beans being produced than previously anticipated. Producer selling across the scale also put pressure on the pinto market. Concerns over the US economy at this time are making for a bearish marketing situation. We continue to monitor the progression of the Minnesota / North Dakota 2008 dry bean harvest closely for amounts produced and quality. We understand that they are getting record amounts of rainfall, delaying harvest.
We would like to thank all of the producers who brought us beans this year. We will continue to work hard for you through the 2008 - 2009 marketing year. If you have any questions about the current harvest or market, please drop us an email or call.
Thanks from all of us at Colorado Bean Company / Greeley Trading.
